The smell of freshly steamed crabs, the roar of “O!” during the National Anthem at an Orioles game, and the abundance of weekend festivals are all signs that summer has arrived in Baltimore. Summertime here is exciting; there is always something going on, regardless of your interests.
Here’s a run-down of two of our favorite Baltimore summer pastimes: Artscape and the Orioles.
Held over a full weekend every July, Artscape is the nation’s largest free arts festival (attracting 350,000+ attendees over three days), and it’s proudly hosted right here in Baltimore. This event draws hundreds of artists of varying styles, brings live concerts to outdoor and indoor stages, and, of course, boasts every possible fair-food you can imagine (think: funnel cake, turkey legs, and a variety of international delicacies). Artscape 2015 starts today, so make sure to check out the schedule of events and don’t miss a beat!
Let’s go O’s: Baltimoreans are crazy about the Orioles. Students often head down to Camden Yards stadium to catch a great game (and take advantage of the generous student discount) and, naturally, eat some amazing ball park food!
Summer is a wonderful time to be on campus and in the city. Want to know more about what current students are up to? Read their guide, Summertime at Hopkins.
