Introductory Blog Entry: The Title Explains It All
Posted by Kate F. on September 29 2006
Hi! I’m Kate, and I’m a freshman majoring in neuroscience and minoring in classics–and yes, I’m pre-med. Outside the classroom, I’m part of the Student Admissions Advisory Board, the student group behind Hopkins Interactive. In addition, I’m part of the Filipino Students Association (FSA) and La Organización Latina Estudiantil (OLÉ), especially their dance groups. Finally, I’m a member of the Hopkins Catholic Community, a tutor in the JHU Tutorial Project (a community service group that tutors elementary school students here on campus), and a volunteer ballet instructor in the Margaret Brent Ballet Program (a community service group that teaches ballet to elementary and middle school students).
While I’ve been at Hopkins for only a month, I love it here! The academics are great, but it’s the other students at Hopkins who make me very glad to be here. Although I can’t properly describe how wonderful the student body is, I want to make it clear now that while we Hopkins students are studious, we aren’t cutthroat. There might be some of us who are, but don’t let them ruin your perception of the rest of us.
That’s all for this entry. If you want to know more about student life at Hopkins, read my next blog entries, and check out the other student blogs!
