I’m off to London in less than 48 hours! This is the final countdown. Yesterday, I asked myself, “How will I find the time to write a blog tomorrow–just two short days before leaving to study abroad?” I’ve been running around purchasing London essentials, taking care of last minute errands and appointments, and of course, squeezing, slamming, and shoving more into my suitcase than can comfortably fit.
I decided that, since I most likely wouldn’t find a solid hour in the middle of the day to write a full-length blog, I’d spread out the work and the writing across the entire day! So this, my friends, is JHU_Lucie’s second microblog! This is how I spent Thursday, August 30th, 2012:
5:35AM: What? I’m awake at 5:35 in the morning? Let me explain. Normally, I sleep until 11 or 12. Sometimes, in the summer, I won’t get out of bed until 1 or 2 PM (when I’m not working, of course). This morning, however, I’m making my third appearance on the Today Show! Isn’t it amazing how easy it is to wake up when you’re excited about where you’re going?!
5:40AM: It’s still dark outside…
6:30AM: The NBC car has arrived to scoop me up! I’m on my way to Rockefeller Center!
6:45AM: I love the view from the West Side Highway.
7:00AM: I’m here! The building is beautiful. I just walked into the green room and found the identical twin girls from a YouTube video that I watched last night! What are the odds? This is why I love television!
8:00AM: My segment airs in about 35 minutes. Waiting to get my hair and makeup done.
8:37AM: I’m on the air with Natalie Morales! My last two interviews have been with Matt Lauer, so I’m very excited to finally meet Natalie!
9:00AM: Back in the NBC car! Excited to get home!
9:30AM: I’m home! Jumped into bed with my twin sister, Allie (who was obviously still asleep), and then sliced up some delicious watermelon for myself.
11:30AM: Heading with my family to get flu shots! (Oh no!) Playing around in CVS with Allie before the needle had to spoil all of the fun.
11:35AM: Did you know that there’s an entire section of trial sized goodies in CVS? Perfect for travel! Grabbing a bunch of small items to carry on the plane to the UK.
11:45AM: Shots, shots, shots, shots…
12:00PM: Is it seriously only noon? I feel like I’ve been awake for an entire day…
1:00PM: Packing.
2:30PM: MY DOG, LUCA, JUST ESCAPED FROM OUR BACKYARD! The fence has a hole in it and he got out! My mom, sister, and I went running around like maniacs for twenty minutes screaming “LUCA! LUCA!” Finally, my sister found him in the woods surrounding our property. Poor Luca wouldn’t have known how to get home! Phew…I’m so happy that he made it home safely.
3:00PM: Back to packing.
5:00PM: Still packing…
7:00PM: Still packing!!! Alright, I’ll admit–I wasn’t packing that entire time. I swam in my pool with my boyfriend for a couple of hours in between…but still…
7:30PM: Sushi dinner with the family!
8:30PM: Curling up to watch a movie! Tomorrow is my last day at home before the big trip across the pond!
Summer 2012 was a huge success. I can’t wait for the next chapter of my life in London and for all of the adventure and excitement that I know is in store for me in the future. So, to the United States of America, farewell for now!
