One month down, six to go

My cousin Ellie and me in St. James' Park!

A month ago today I flew out of Newark airport, and arrived here in London for the summer. A lot has happened since I boarded that plane. Here are some of the highlights:

  • - Officially ended my teenage career and became a (sort of) adult aka I turned 20
  • - Started my first 9 to 5 job
  • - Watched a center court match at the AEGON Championships
  • - Had my first Royal Family encounter – one of soon to be many considering that I’m one day going to be Mrs. Prince Harry
  • - Joined the ranks of London commuters and fight the daily aggressive battle for a seat on the Tube
  • - Seriously considered dropping out of school to professionally follow the British boy band The Wanted
  • - Copy-edited my first manuscript
  • - Became responsible for more than half the Les Mis trailer YouTube views
  • - (Almost) completed my first IRB research application
  • - Realized I’m going to need to start following soccer (football?) if I want European friends
  • Discovering my British national pride during the Jubilee.

    - Began attempting to be gluten-free

  • - Witnessed a live Justin Beiber-Carly Rae Jepson joint performance
  • - Flooded my besties’ Inboxes with daily (occasionally hourly) emails
  • - Discovered the genius that is laineygossip.com
  • - Solidified my decision to go into publishing post-graduation
  • - Signed up for an October half-marathon in Paris
  • - Joined a British tennis league
  • - Purchased my first trench coat

And that’s pretty much a wrap on month number one! I’m having the most amazing time – promise to share more next time about the fabulous adventure that is living abroad.
