April is always a really busy month at Hopkins. There’s Homecoming weekend, Spring Fair Weekend, and two SOHOP’s for the admitted students. Thus, it’s been a pretty busy, but fun, couple of weeks! Beyond this, it’s also the end of the semester! I officially have two more weeks of classes, and in one month I will be walking across the stage to graduate from Hopkins. This semester has flown by, and it’s bittersweet knowing that this was my last spring fair and homecoming as a current student. I’ve had so many great memories from all these events in April and recently, I’ve spent some time looking back at all these moments and it’s made me a bit nostalgic at all the memories and experiences I’ve had during these events the past four years. So I thought I’d share a bit about my favourite things about some of these events.
1) Running into Old Friends
At Hopkins, it’s sometimes really easy to get caught up with life and as a result, you don’t see some people for extended periods of time. But whenever Homecoming and Spring Fair roll around, you can be assured that you’ll be able to run into all of your friends.
2) Meeting Alumni returning for Alumni Weekend
One of my favourite aspects about Hopkins is the connections that underclassmen have with upperclassmen and alumni. Even coming in as a freshman you will meet upperclassmen either in your classes or as part of your clubs, and these are relationships that you can maintain throughout college. When they graduate, many often return for either Young Alumni Weekend or Homecoming, which makes it a great time to catch up! It’s always great getting advice from others
3) Spring Fair
I tried to find one moment about Spring Fair that was most memorable, but every year is always amazing. I loved just taking a break from all the work of Hopkins and spending all day out in the sun with my girlfriend and all my best friends. It’s always a highlight of my year at Hopkins and I can’t believe that this will be my last year as a student. Nevertheless, I do plan to stay in Baltimore next year and can’t wait for all these events again next year as an official alumni!
